MRP Controller

We are currently recruiting for an additional MRP Controller to join the business who will be responsible:

  • To plan and coordinate scheduling, material and production planning activities in an effective and efficient manner to ensure that customer orders are achieved on time in full in line with delivery requirements.
  • To act as main point of contact for customers regarding production orders and schedules.

  • To accurately maintain the MRP system in line with customer and business requirements.

 

Main functions include:

Scheduling

  • On a daily basis access customer portals to download order schedules and ensure that these (along with other schedules that have arrived) are scheduled and translated accurately in a timely manner on to the MRP system (SAP), notifying the relevant personnel of any changes that may occur in customer requirements, and advise the customer accordingly on expected delivery time.

     

  • Coordinate with the site Production Management team on a daily basis to ensure that delivery requirements (daily & weekly) will be met accordingly.

     

  • Act as main point of contact for customers regarding production orders and schedules; ensure that the customer is kept up to date on the progress of their order in a timely manner (including any issues with scheduled delivery dates).

     

  • Highlight to the on-site sales team any orders that are out of the norm to ensure accurate pricing is in place – includes elements such as minimum order quantities not met, no recent shipping/despatch history etc.

     

  • Undertake daily review and coordination of Customer EDI releases and Cumulative balance discrepancies.  Highlight any issues/concerns to the relevant personnel accordingly.

 

Material Planning

 

  • Using the MRP (SAP) system, ensuring that raw materials and production consumables are planned, ordered and expedited effectively so that they are ready and available to use on Site on time to meet the requirements of the production plan

     

  • Working closely with Production Management & Logistics, ensure material requirements are monitored/adjusted in accordance with customer demand.  Ensure that key personnel are made aware of any potential concerns from the material suppliers such as delivery delays.

 

  • Working closely with the department Manager, ensure that efficient and effective material stock control occurs and that the flow of material is in line with lean principles where possible.

 

Production Planning

  • Plan, control and coordinate production activities to ensure customer requirements are achieved on time.

     

  • Analyse production process/machine capacities and highlight any potential areas of concern (bottlenecks) in an efficient manner, where possible identifying ways to issues (e.g. amending production plans / running orders).

     

  • Prepare and issue suitable production plans, works orders and ‘work to’ lists for Production teams to follow.  Ensure key priorities are communicated to key personnel in an effective manner (e.g. deadlines, special transport requirements). 

 

  • Monitor, review and update plans on a regular basis.  Ensure any changes are communicated in an effective manner.

 

  • Undertake material utilisation activities in conjunction with engineering personnel to ensure best use of material and help minimise waste and improve efficiency.

 

  • Update production plans as needed to support NPI activities, whilst ensuring customer order requirements will still be met in line with planned delivery dates.

 

Knowledge and experience:

  • Candidates should ideally be educated to HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

     

  • Must have previous experience in a similar planning role within a high volume manufacturing environment, ideally using SAP.

     

  • Experience of material movement working with ERP/MRP systems would be an advantage.

 

  • Excellent communication skills are essential.

 

  • Candidates must have previous experience in liaising closely with customers / suppliers and be able to demonstrate they can build and develop good working relationships with internal personnel as well as external contacts.

 

  • Displays a positive attitude to change and can motivate others to adapt to new circumstances and ways of working e.g. Lean methods

     

  • Self-motivated and pro-active approach with ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment whilst still maintaining high level of attention to detail (accuracy).

     

  • Excellent team working, organisation and time management skills.

 

  • Can gather information and analyse problems using own initiative.

     

  • Can plan and manage resources effectively, re-assessing and amending plans as required.

     

  • Must have good working knowledge of Excel & Word.

 

  • Good numeracy & literacy skills.
