ElringKlinger (GB) was recently awarded for its work in the community and environmental efforts at the North East Business Awards 2015.

The awards highlight and reward the success of the region’s most outstanding firms over the past 12 months. Now in their fourth decade, they are organised by The Journal and The Gazette in association with the North East Chamber of Commerce.

After the judging process, shortlists were announced earlier this year with ElringKlinger being named in the running for three awards – Company of the Year, Green Award and Manufacturing Award.

In front of a crowd of Teesside’s best businesses, ElringKlinger was presented with the Green Award. Guest speaker on the night was British Army veteran Simon Weston OBE, who has become well known throughout the UK for his charity work.

The company then went on to be named Green Award winner, sponsored by Middlesbrough College, for the whole of the North East at Hardwick Hall in April.

Ian Malcolm said: “We are committed to keeping our impact on the environment to a minimum so were extremely proud to walk away with this award.

“The installation of the wind turbine in late 2014 marked the company’s transition into a generator of “Green Electricity”, proving incredibly effective reducing our electricity costs by up to 60 percent.

“The company has also achieved zero percent to landfill and improved its record of recycling to 100% of all waste generated on-site so to be recognised for these efforts is testament to the whole workforce that have helped to work towards these goals.”

ElringKlinger was also awarded runner up prizes for Company of the Year and the Manufacturing Award at the Teesside regional heat.
